Founded in 1994, Serious is an audio production studio dedicated to audiobooks, voice recording and crafted sound experiences.
Serious was founded in 1994, when the doors first opened to our audio studios at Enhjørningens Bastion in Copenhagen. What began as a small one-man operation quickly grew into a creative production environment driven by curiosity, craftsmanship and a passion for sound.
Shortly after, Serious moved to larger facilities at Pakhuset on Njalsgade, where production expanded rapidly — particularly within animation dubbing and radio commercials. Over time, the company evolved into a collaborative studio working with a wide network of talented employees and freelance specialists. Ideas moved fast, and the focus was simply to create the space needed to bring them to life.
Across more than 1,000 square metres of studios and workspaces, Serious produced dubbing, radio drama, comedy and documentary content for national broadcasters including DR, as well as regional radio stations throughout Denmark.
A shift towards audiobooks
In 2005, the company entered a new chapter. Commercial production and large-scale animation dubbing were gradually phased out, making room for a clear creative direction: audiobook production. The transition marked a return to what matters most — storytelling through sound. Audiobooks became the natural focus, combining technical precision with performance, narration and careful direction.
One of the first sound engineers behind the mixing desk in Studio B was acoustic specialist Peter Heede. In many ways, he is still there today — only the address has changed. Known for his calm approach and critical ear, Peter has worked with voices across the entire industry.
Together, we have spent years producing audiobooks for Danish listeners and international audiences alike, refining a production approach we call the Taylor made style — where every recording is shaped with attention to detail, respect for the narrator and dedication to the listening experience.
Serious today
While the original 1,000-square-metre facilities have since been replaced by studios in Vanløse and Charlottenlund, the philosophy remains unchanged. Every day, we draw on decades of experience in voice direction and sound staging, continuing to craft audio productions with the same care and precision that defined Serious from the beginning.
